The Curaçao flag: two stars and the Caribbean sea
Curaçao's flag is a blue field crossed below the middle by a horizontal yellow stripe, with two white five-pointed stars in the upper hoist. The upper blue stands for the sky and the lower for the sea, while the yellow stripe is the bright sun that shines over the island. The two stars represent Curaçao and its small uninhabited neighbour, Klein Curaçao, and their five points the continents from which the island's people came. The flag was adopted on 2 July 1984, and on 10 October 2010 Curaçao became a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Our Curaçao flag shows the yellow stripe in its offset position, as the official design requires.
Flag Day, football and Curaçao in Britain
Flag Day on 2 July is a public holiday, and Curaçao Day on 10 October celebrates the island's autonomy. Curaçao also made football history by qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, the smallest nation ever to reach the finals, and the team bundle, offered in small, medium and large sets, is aimed at fans following the national side. Willemstad's colourful waterfront is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Dutch-Caribbean families and holidaymakers in Britain fly the flag at parties and on the terraces.
Sizes, grades and fittings
Curaçao flags come in 20x12in, 3ft x 2ft, 5ft x 3ft and 8ft x 5ft from £6.99. A 5ft x 3ft is the match-day favourite; a 3ft x 2ft hangs well on a bar or bedroom wall. Flagtex is light, printed and good value for parties, while DuraFlag is a stronger knitted weave for outdoor poles, available with eyelets, clips or rope and toggle.
Hand flags and table flags
Curaçao hand flags are £7.99. For a desk or a top table, the large wooden table flag is 18x12in, and the satin table flag is a sleeved 9x6in with a smooth finish. Aruba and the Netherlands sit alongside Curaçao in our world flags.
