Green above, red below and a yellow-edged black band rising diagonally between them with two white stars: the St Kitts and Nevis flag in DuraFlag knitted polyester.

The design came from a national competition won by the student Edris Lewis and was raised for the first time when the twin-island federation became independent in September 1983. The two stars are said to stand for hope and liberty.

It is popular for the St Kitts Music Festival, Caribbean carnivals in Leeds and London and for a long run on a pole at a home or community centre.
