Saint Kitts and Nevis Flag

The St Kitts and Nevis flag is divided diagonally from the lower hoist to the upper fly by a broad black band, edged in yellow, carrying two white five-pointed stars. The upper hoist triangle is green and the lower fly triangle red.

Designed by Edris Lewis, it was adopted at independence on 19 September 1983. Green stands for the fertile land, yellow for sunshine, black for African heritage, red for the struggle from slavery, and the two stars for hope and liberty.

Kittitian and Nevisian communities fly it on Independence Day, 19 September, at carnival and when the West Indies play cricket.
