Festival flag poles and camping flag poles

A festival flag pole does two jobs: it marks your tent so you can find your way back at 2am, and it lets your group fly a flag above the crowd. The poles on this page are all telescopic or sectional, so they collapse to a carry length, go up without tools and come home in the car. None of them needs digging or concrete.

Telescopic flag pole for the campsite

The telescopic flag pole extends section by section to 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 7m, 8m, 9m, 10m or 12m and collapses back down for storage. Push a small stake into the grass for a 3m or 4m pole, or a large stake for 5m and above, and slot the pole on. A 4m to 6m pole with a 5ft x 3ft flag is the usual campsite choice: high enough to be seen across a field of tents, short enough to stay steady. Taller poles are for showgrounds, caravan parks and club pitches. If a section gets bent in transit, a replacement section is available.

Fix the pole with a ground stake only; guy ropes, clamps or tying it to a tent put sideways strain on the pole and can snap it. Fly the flag from the second-to-top section down, attached with cable ties or flag bungees. The thin tip section is for a windsock, which is the classic festival marker: try the rainbow windsock or the St George windsock.

Hand-held flag poles for the crowd

Where you want to carry the flag rather than plant it, the hand-held telescopic flagpole extends to 6ft (1.8m), has a rubber grip and two clips for a 5ft x 3ft or 3ft x 2ft flag, and telescopes down to fit a rucksack. The small hand-held telescopic flagpole extends to 1.2m, weighs about 80g and packs down to under 25cm, so it fits in a pocket. For groups, the 6ft hand-held pole is also stocked for bulk orders.

Many festivals have their own rules on flags and poles, such as maximum heights or no poles in front of the stages, and some ban them altogether. Check the festival’s guidance before you pack.

Car flag poles and stall flags

The car flag pole is a 40cm plastic pole that takes our 18x12in car flags and clips over the window glass, for the convoy to the site. For a market stall, a food van or an event pitch, the 2.8m aluminium and fibreglass flagpole takes our 200 x 55cm advertising flags and stands on the ground spike, which is hammered into firm ground; the carry bag keeps the kit together.

Which flag for a festival pole?

5ft x 3ft (150 x 90cm) is the size for a telescopic pole up to 6m and for the 6ft hand-held pole. Use 3ft x 2ft on a 3m pole or in strong wind, and 8ft x 5ft only on poles of 8m and above. The flagpole buying guide has the full height-by-height table.

For the flag itself: the Union Jack and St George are the festival regulars, a county flag tells everyone where your group is from, and the camping tent flag is self-explanatory. Browse all flags or the celebration flags, and string bunting between two poles for a camp that stands out. Every pole and flag here ships from our Stoke-on-Trent warehouse, same day on orders before 2pm, with free 1–2 day UK delivery.

Festival and camping flag pole FAQs

What is the best flag pole for a festival?

A 4m to 6m telescopic flag pole on a ground stake. It packs down to a carry length, goes up in minutes without tools and puts a 5ft x 3ft flag clearly above the tents.

Can I buy a flag and pole together?

Yes. Add the telescopic pole, a ground stake and any 5ft x 3ft flag to your basket and they are sent together. The hand-held 6ft pole takes any 5ft x 3ft or 3ft x 2ft flag with its two clips.

How do I put a flag on a telescopic pole?

Extend the pole, then fix the flag’s top and bottom eyelets to the second-to-top section and the one below it with cable ties or flag bungees. Leave the thin tip section for a windsock, or take it out.

Do I need a ground stake?

Yes for a telescopic pole. Use the small stake for 3m and 4m poles and the large stake for 5m and above. The stake pushes into grass or soil; on hard ground, use a mallet.

What size flag fits a festival pole?

5ft x 3ft for telescopic poles up to 6m and for the 6ft hand-held pole. Drop to 3ft x 2ft in strong wind or on the 1.2m pocket pole.

Will a telescopic flag pole stand up in wind?

Yes in normal weather, with the stake firmly in and every section locked. In a strong wind, lower it a section or two or take it down, and use a smaller flag on an exposed site.

Are flag poles allowed at festivals?

It depends on the festival. Many allow them at the campsite but limit height or ban them in front of stages, and some ban them entirely. Check the festival’s own rules before you go.

How fast will my pole arrive?

Order before 2pm and it is dispatched the same day from our Stoke-on-Trent warehouse, with free 1–2 day UK delivery.
