Uzbekistan DuraFlag

Blue, white and green horizontal bands make up Uzbekistan's flag, with a narrow red line dividing each pair. In the upper hoist of the blue band is a white crescent moon beside twelve white stars set in three rows.

It was adopted on 18 November 1991, shortly after independence from the Soviet Union. Blue recalls the sky and the banner of Timur, white peace, green nature and the red lines the life force; the crescent marks the new republic and the twelve stars the months of the year.

It flies for Independence Day on 1 September, at Navruz in March and at football, boxing and wrestling events with Uzbek competitors.
