Oman DuraFlag

Oman's flag has a broad vertical red band at the hoist and three horizontal bands of white, red and green across the rest of the field. At the top of the red band is the national emblem in white: two crossed swords behind a curved khanjar dagger on its belt.

The emblem dates from the Al Said dynasty of the eighteenth century, and the present flag was introduced in 1970, with its proportions adjusted in 1995. Red is the traditional colour of Omani banners, white is linked with peace and green with the fertile Jebel Akhdar.

Embassies, trade delegations and Omani students fly it for National Day in November, and it appears at football and sailing events with Omani crews.
