The United Tribes of New Zealand flag is white with a red St George's cross, and in the upper hoist a blue canton divided by a smaller red cross edged in black, with a white eight-pointed star in each blue quarter.

It was chosen in 1834 by an assembly of northern Māori chiefs at Waitangi so that ships built in New Zealand could trade under a recognised flag. The chiefs went on to sign the Declaration of Independence of 1835 under the same flag.

It flies at Waitangi and Bay of Islands events and is bought by historians and collectors. Woven polyester keeps the New Zealand United Tribes Flag light enough to fly in a gentle breeze while holding bright colours. The New Zealand United Tribes Flag comes in the popular 5ft x 3ft size, right for most garden and club flagpoles as well as walls and windows.
