Three notched white Saxon swords with gold hilts, stacked one above another under a gold Saxon crown on a plain red field: that is the Middlesex flag.
The seax blades have stood for the Middle Saxons since at least the seventeenth century and were shared with Essex, so in 1910 Middlesex County Council added the crown to tell the two apart. The council was abolished in 1965 when most of the area joined Greater London, but the historic county's banner is still flown.
Fly it on Middlesex Day, 16 May, at Middlesex cricket at Lord's and at community events in Harrow, Ealing, Enfield, Uxbridge and Staines.
