On a plain blue field the Munster flag carries three gold crowns, two over one, in a simple heraldic arrangement.
The crowns have been the emblem of Ireland's southern province for over five hundred years; one tradition links them to the three kingdoms that once divided Munster. They also fill one quarter of the four provinces flag.
Red-shirted rugby crowds at Thomond Park and Musgrave Park, hurling fans from Cork, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford, and Kerry football supporters all fly it on big days.
