On the Merionethshire flag three white goats rear up on a blue ground, their horns and hooves picked out in gold, while a gold sun breaks out of the lower corner nearest the pole.
Goats are the traditional emblem of Meirionnydd, the mountain county of Cader Idris, the Rhinogydd and the Mawddach estuary. The flag keeps the old county's identity alive since Merioneth was merged into Gwynedd in 1974.
It flies beside the Red Dragon on St David's Day in Dolgellau, Bala, Harlech, Barmouth and Tywyn, at agricultural shows and at chapels and village halls across the old county.
