Catalan Independence DuraFlag

This is the Estelada: the four red bars of the Catalan Senyera on a gold field, with a blue triangle at the hoist carrying a white five-pointed star.

The starred flag dates from around 1918, when its designers borrowed the triangle and star from the Cuban and Puerto Rican flags and added them to the Senyera, whose red and gold go back to the medieval Crown of Aragon. It is the flag carried by supporters of Catalan independence, while the plain Senyera remains the official flag of Catalonia.

It is seen at the Diada on 11 September, at Barcelona matches and at Catalan cultural events; buyers who want the official regional flag should choose our Catalonia flag instead.
