Vietnam New DuraFlag

Vietnam's national flag shows one large gold five-pointed star on a plain red field.

First raised in 1940 and adopted by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945, it became the flag of the reunified country in 1976. The five points are traditionally said to stand for workers, farmers, soldiers, intellectuals and youth.

It is flown at Tết celebrations, Vietnamese restaurants and community events and at football matches. Knitted polyester lets the wind pass through the weave, so the Vietnam New DuraFlag keeps its shape and colour on a pole that stays up for months.
