Philippines DuraFlag

A white triangle at the hoist holds a golden sun with eight rays and a gold star in each corner, while the rest of the Philippines flag is blue over red.

First raised at the declaration of independence from Spain on 12 June 1898, it is unusual in being flown red side up in time of war. The eight rays represent the first provinces to rise against Spanish rule, and the stars Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.

Filipino communities across the UK fly it on Independence Day, 12 June, and at boxing and basketball events.
