The West Riding of Yorkshire flag carries a red St George's cross on white, with a white rose on a gold sunburst where the arms of the cross meet.

The rose on a sunburst, known as the rose en soleil, was an emblem of Edward IV and the Yorkist kings, and on this flag it stands for the biggest of the three historic ridings, home to Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Wakefield and Halifax. It is the flag we stock for West Yorkshire.

It goes up on Yorkshire Day, 1 August, at rugby league and county cricket, and at mills, pubs and town halls across the old riding.
