Vatican City DuraFlag

The Vatican City flag is divided vertically, gold at the hoist and white at the fly, with the crossed keys of St Peter, one gold and one silver, beneath the papal tiara on the white.

It was adopted in 1929 when the Lateran Treaty created Vatican City State. The keys represent the keys of the kingdom of heaven entrusted to St Peter, and gold and white became the papal colours in 1808.

Catholic parishes, schools and pilgrimage groups fly it for papal visits, feast days and celebrations of a new pope. Knitted polyester lets the wind pass through the weave, so the Vatican City DuraFlag keeps its shape and colour on a pole that stays up for months.
