Birthday flags: the one on the pole tells the street

A Happy Birthday flag on the garden pole or the front of the house is the oldest trick for a surprise party: the guest of honour sees it from the taxi and the neighbours know to wave. The Happy Birthday Bottle flag is the big seller, a champagne bottle and the greeting in bright colours on woven polyester in 3ft x 2ft, 5ft x 3ft and 8ft x 5ft, with a Happy Birthday Cake flag in 3ft x 2ft and 5ft x 3ft for the children’s party. The plain-colour greetings flags, red, blue, pink, yellow and black, match the party colour scheme and go up to 8ft x 5ft for a marquee or a pub flagpole; the yellow is the one with a 20x12in hand size and a DuraFlag grade for a flag that comes out every year.

18th to 70th: the milestone flags

Each big birthday has its own flag in 5ft x 3ft at £7.99: Happy 18th Birthday, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th (also in 8ft x 5ft), 60th and 70th, each with matching bunting, hand flags and a table flag so the whole venue can be dressed in one age. They go on the pub function-room wall, across the garden gate, on the care-home lounge for a resident’s big day, and on the campervan at the festival for a birthday weekend.

Which size birthday flag?

5ft x 3ft is the size for a garden pole, a gate, a pub wall or a marquee entrance and the one most parties buy; 3ft x 2ft suits a front door, a bedroom or a highchair; 8ft x 5ft is for a flagpole, a marquee back wall or a village-hall stage; and the 20x12in Happy Birthday Yellow goes on a hand pole or a car aerial. Every flag has a sewn header and brass eyelets and ties to a pole, a fence or a curtain rail with cable ties or string.

Material and dispatch

The birthday flags are printed on 100 denier woven polyester, light enough to fly on a garden pole in a breeze and tough enough to be washed and kept for the next party. The Happy Birthday Yellow adds a DuraFlag option in 150gsm knitted polyester with clips or a rope and toggle. All of it is stocked in and dispatched from our Stoke-on-Trent warehouse, same day on orders before 2pm, so a flag ordered on Wednesday is on the pole for a Friday party.

Birthday bunting

Happy Birthday Bottle bunting comes in 3m and 9m rectangle lengths and a giant 18.25m length with oversized pennants for a marquee, a pub frontage or a street, with a horizontal version that reads along a fence or a bar. Happy Birthday Cake bunting and the 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th bunting are in 3m and 9m on weatherproof polyester, so they survive a garden party in a shower.

Hand flags and table flags

Happy Birthday hand flags on wooden sticks come in 9x6in and 18x12in for the guests to wave when the cake comes out, with cake and milestone versions from 18th to 60th. The Happy Birthday table flag with base is the 6x4in flag for the top table, the cake stand or the office desk, and each milestone has its own, from the 18th table flag to the 70th. Christmas, New Year and the rest of the party range are under celebration flags.
