Hand Flags – Hand Waving Flags on Wooden Sticks for Crowds, Parades & Schools

Hand flags are the small printed flags on a wooden stick that get waved at a parade, a school sports day, a citizenship ceremony or a fan zone. Each design comes as a 9x6in flag on a 30cm stick for £5.99 or an 18x12in flag on a 60cm stick for £7.99; the St George hand flag and the rainbow hand flag are typical of the range, and every country, county, pride and celebration design has a stick version.

Two sizes of hand flag and what each is for

The 9x6in (22.5 x 15cm) hand flag on a 30cm wooden stick is the children's parade flag and the one to hand out in quantity: it is light enough for a reception-class pupil, it fits in a pocket on the way home and it doubles as a table flag when dropped into the small wooden base. The 18x12in (45 x 30cm) flag on a 60cm stick is the adult size for a street party, a coach-park welcome or the finish line of a charity run, and it stands in the large wooden base for a lectern or a stage. Both are printed polyester on a plain wooden stick, and both use the same artwork as the 5ft x 3ft flag, so a school that buys an England hand flag for each child and a big St George for the gate gets a matching set.

Where to find your design

The hand-flag tree mirrors the main shop. World countries is the big one, with a stick flag for nearly every nation, and organisations has the UN, EU and Commonwealth. British nations covers the Union Jack, St George, Saltire and Welsh dragon, British counties the county days, and Irish the tricolour and the county colours. Pride, celebration and other take care of the parade, the birthday party and the pirate day. For one country with everything in one place, go to its own hub, for example Wales flags, where the hand flag is listed with the full-size flag, bunting and table flag.

How many to order

Hand flags are priced singly, so a class of thirty needs thirty in the basket; the product page shows live stock and the accessories section has the bases. For a crowd that needs something bigger than a stick flag, the 6ft hand-held telescopic pole at £25 carries a full 5ft x 3ft flag over the heads in front of you, and bunting dresses the route the flags are waved along. Everything here is stocked in and dispatched from our Stoke-on-Trent warehouse, same day before 2pm, with free 1 to 2 day UK delivery, which is usually quick enough for a parade decided on at the last governors' meeting.

Hand flag FAQs

What sizes do hand flags come in?

Two: 9x6in on a 30cm wooden stick at £5.99 and 18x12in on a 60cm stick at £7.99. The 20x12in size listed on the big flag products is a car or courtesy flag with eyelets, not a stick flag.

Are the sticks wooden or plastic?

Wooden, plain and unvarnished, on both sizes. There is no plastic stick option in the hand-flag range; the 6x4in table flag is the one on a plastic pole.

Can a hand flag be used as a table flag?

Yes. The small wooden base takes the 9x6in stick and the large wooden base takes the 18x12in stick; both are in the accessories section.

Is the design visible on both sides?

The flag is printed through a light polyester so the design shows on the reverse as a mirror image, which is the normal construction for a waving flag; text designs read correctly from the printed side.

Do you do bulk packs for schools and events?

Add the quantity you need to the basket; the price is per flag and the live stock figure on the product page tells you what can leave the same day. For large or unusual quantities, message us before ordering.

Which hand flags should a school keep in the cupboard?

A set of Union Jacks covers royal and national occasions, St George or the Saltire or the Welsh dragon covers the patron saint day, and a box of world-country flags covers an international evening or the next tournament.
