Progress Pride, Ally & Other Pride Flags – Bunting & More

The Progress Pride flag and what came after the rainbow

Gilbert Baker’s rainbow of 1978 has never been replaced, but it has been added to. In 2017 Philadelphia put black and brown stripes above the rainbow to recognise LGBTQ+ people of colour, the design sold here as the More Colour More Pride flag. In 2018 Daniel Quasar moved those two stripes, with the light blue, pink and white of the trans flag, into a chevron pointing in from the hoist to show progress still to be made: that is the Progress Pride flag, now the one most UK Prides, councils, NHS trusts and employers fly. In 2021 Valentino Vecchietti of Intersex Equality Rights UK added the yellow triangle and purple circle of the intersex flag to the chevron, giving the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag, which is the version in the widest range here, from 20x12in to 8ft x 5ft in Flagtex or DuraFlag with bunting, hand flags and table flags to match. Every version is printed through the cloth with the chevron on the hoist side, where it belongs, so it is not flying backwards when it goes up a pole.

Allies, lesbians, polyamory and the queer flag

The Straight Ally flag sets a rainbow A for ally against black and white stripes and is the flag for the parent, the colleague and the company that wants to show support without claiming the rainbow for itself; it comes in every size up to 8ft x 5ft with a DuraFlag option. The lesbian flags are all here, the sunset stripes of 2018, the simplified five-stripe community flag, the older labrys flag with its double-headed axe and black triangle, the lipstick lesbian flag and the sapphic flag with its violet. The polyamorous flag, the polysexual flag, the queer pride flag, the unlabelled flag and the skoliosexual flag cover the identities that the rainbow does not spell out, and the Disability Pride flag, the autism awareness flag, the feminist flag and the suffragette flag in purple, white and green sit alongside for the marches that share the calendar.

Message flags, hashtags and the community flags

The message flags say it in words: Love Is Love, Love Wins, Love Has No Gender, Love For All, Born This Way, All Equal and Everyone Is Welcome Here, the last one the flag for a pub door, a church porch or a school gate. The hashtag flags put #PRIDE across the rainbow, trans, bi, pan and Progress colours for a parade, and the Pride on black, rainbow Venus and Australia pink flags are the alternatives for a float. The community and subculture flags, the bear flag with its paw print, the leather pride flag of 1989, the rubber, pup, twink and gay goth flags among them, are the ones the clubs, bars and community groups fly over their own tents at Pride.

Sizes, grades and fittings

The Progress Pride, intersex-inclusive Progress, Straight Ally, More Colour More Pride, lesbian sunset, lesbian stripes, lipstick lesbian, labrys, pansexual and pup flags come in 20x12in, 3ft x 2ft, 5ft x 3ft and 8ft x 5ft in Flagtex woven polyester, with a DuraFlag knitted-polyester option for a pole that flies all year and a choice of eyelets, clips or a rope and toggle. The Love Is Love, Love Has No Gender, bear, hashtag and intersex flags come in 3ft x 2ft, 5ft x 3ft and 8ft x 5ft woven polyester with eyelets, and the rarer designs as a 5ft x 3ft Flagtex flag, the size that covers a wall, a stall or a float.

Pride bunting

Progress Pride bunting and intersex-inclusive Progress bunting come in 3m and 9m rectangle lengths and a giant 18.25m length with oversized pennants for a parade route or a hall; pansexual bunting runs from 3m to 20m with a triangle cut, the lesbian sunset bunting is a triangle cut in 5m, 12m and 20m, and Australia pink bunting comes in 3m and 9m. A 9m length dresses a bar or a stall; the giant length crosses a street. The six-stripe rainbow bunting and the rest of the range are under Pride bunting.

Hand flags and table flags

Progress Pride hand flags, intersex-inclusive hand flags, lesbian hand flags and pansexual hand flags on wooden sticks in 9x6in and 18x12in are sold singly and in packs for a parade block, a school or a staff network. The Progress Pride table flag, intersex-inclusive table flag and lesbian table flag with base are the 6x4in desk flags for a reception, a library or a Pride stall, with satin table flags on a chrome base for an office, and the pansexual bandana is for the dog at the march.
